Marketing Coordinator:  Kilowatt Brewing | Forbidden Cove Tiki Bar |  The Space Pad Speakeasy

Position Description

Kilowatt Brewing is seeking a highly motivated and talented Marketing Coordinator, with a heavy focus on content creation and graphic design, to join our small but growing team!  As our Marketing Coordinator you’ll help create fresh design solutions for a variety of products and marketing collateral… from package design for our beverage products, to fun content for social media, to menus and advertising for our Tap Rooms, Restaurants and Speakeasys. The chosen candidate will also help to strengthen and expand our social media presence. As a member of our marketing team, you’ll help manage work flow, packaging designs, websites, advertising, and print collateral for all Kilowatt Brewing needs. This position will be based out of the office at our Kearny Mesa location, with travel to Ocean Beach and Oceanside locations as needed.

About Our Company

Kilowatt Brewing is known for producing small batch, eclectic beer styles and providing customers with unique and stimulating experiences in our one-of-a-kind tasting rooms. Creative and interactive lighting permeates throughout the brewery and taprooms featuring rotating artwork created by local artists, along with an extensive collection of black light art that customers can enjoy with or without provided special 3D glasses, hand-built glass infinity mirror rooms, and other unique art installations. Specialty programmed LED lighting allows us to change the lighting color and mood in real-time.  Custom-built giant versions of modern, classic, and obscure games of skill are also a trademark of Kilowatt’s tasting room experience.  The brewery and tasting room are located at 7576 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard in San Diego.  Located inside our brewery is the Forbidden Cove hidden tiki bar open Thursday through Saturday serving our handcrafted specialty undistilled cocktails with a full liquor license officially being added within the next month.  Kilowatt has two satellite tasting rooms located in Ocean Beach and Oceanside with a new speakeasy behind the tasting room, The Space Pad, opening in the next few months also with full liquor.  All three tasting rooms typically have 20+ beers on tap which are open 7 days per week.  The brewery currently operates a 7 BBL brewhouse with 15 BBL fermenters which have won several awards including voted as a WestCoaster Best of SD Beer 18 in 18′, 2018 Great American Beer Festival Chocolate Beer category Bronze medal winner for our Chocolate Macadamia Stout, 2019 Great American Beer Festival Belgian Dubbel Beer category Bronze medal winner for our OB Bubble Dubbel, 2021 Great American Beer Festival Specialty Beer category Gold medal winner for our Maple Smoked Maibock, and two time 2020 and 2021 medal winners at San Diego International.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Exceptional portfolio demonstrating capacity to produce compelling ideas and develop them into tangible design solutions across digital, print, experiential mediums and more.
  • Proven aptitude for inventive, imaginative, and resourceful problem-solving, and ability to think “outside the box”; a strong desire to do things differently and better.
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Especially: Adobe Illustrator, In-Design, Photoshop).
  • Collaborative mindset, and ability to iterate and incorporate feedback.
  • Proven work experience in graphic design, website design, illustration & social media.
  • Knowledge of web design and maintenance (Word Press) preferred, but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Copy writing experience preferred).
  • Strong project management and time-management skills with ability to supervise multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Print production knowledge and ability to prepare files for print and publication.
  • Detail orientated with good multitasking and organizational skills
  • Possess positive attitude with the ability to work independently, but also contribute well to a team environment.
  • Self starter and highly motivated.

Examples of Responsibilities/Tasks:

  • Packaging Design and Artwork – Working with our CEO, you will assist the design process for our craft beverage packaging. This may require you to design or source a label from start to finish or work within a preexisting design template. Illustration skills are a major plus.
  • Social Media and Website Assets – Working with our CEO and General Manager, you will create eye-catching visuals for use on our website and across our social media platforms.
  • Social Media Management – You will co-own our social media accounts along with input from the CEO and General Manager.
  • Photography – We are in constant need of photos of our beers, facilities, merch, etc. From day one, you’ll be snapping and editing lots of photos.
  • Events – We’re excited to — finally! — host parties and events again. You will assist in creation and management of new events, promotional assets and day-of collateral.
